Who We Are

We are a non-profit community organization that supports individuals 18 years and older who are recovering from the effects of mental illness. Clubhouse is an evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation program that follows the Clubhouse International standards. Membership is free.

Mission

The Clubhouse program promotes independence, individual choice and hope for people recovering from mental illness. We provide individuals with a safe and confidential environment, access to social supports and opportunities to gain or enhance life skills.

Vision

It is our hope that all people in the Peace River area with mental illness will have access to the support of Beyond the Heart Clubhouse, which provides them with the encouragement and assistance they need to lead successful lives and be fully engaged as citizens of their communities.

What are Clubhouses

There are over 350 Clubhouses around the world. Clubhouses provide members with opportunities to build long-term relationships that, in turn, support them in obtaining skills needed to find employment, education and housing, including:

  • a work-ordered day in which the talents and abilities of members are recognized and utilized within the Clubhouse

  • participation in consensus-based decision-making regarding all important matters relating to the running of the Clubhouse

  • assistance in accessing community-based education, employment, and housing resources

  • access to crisis intervention services when needed

  • social and recreational events
